Christmas cross stitch

The first crafty activity I ever did was cross stitch. There was a shop in my grandmother’s town that sold lots of starter cross stitch kits and my mum bought me one. I can’t say I’ve done loads of projects, but I’ve made a few. My main annoyance with cross stitch is how it’s usually purely decorative, which is a shame because I love doing needlework. If you knit a jumper, it’s useful and you can wear it for years. If you cross stitch a fairy on some aida, unless you frame it or make it into some sort of decorative hanging for your wall, there’s not that much use to it.
Going through my sewing box today I found a kit my aunt bought me years ago. It’s a simple Christmassy table cloth.

The only thing that bothers me is that it’s printed and not a counted cross stich. I suppose having a counted cross stitch this large would be pretty difficult to get accurate though!

So until my new crafty supplies arrive (new yarn and some felt) I’ll start work on this Christmas table cloth!
